Signal Hill Library

Designed to be a "reading room" in the park, the 14,900 SF Signal Hill Library incorporates many references to the community's rich and colorful history beginning in the 1500's with the Puva Indians to the booming oil industry of the early 20th Century. The library is designed as one large space floating under an "umbrella" roof form. In addition to the dedicated reading and stack areas the library includes a History Museum, Community Room, Children's Learning Center and outdoor reading patio. The single story building takes advantage of the sloping site and incorporates a Roof Terrace and entertainment area providing views across the park and to the Port of Long Beach in the distance.

Location: Signal Hill, CA
