ladera sports center
The Ladera Sports Center is a mixed-use 4-story 120,500 SF “podium design” building which allows for parking on the ground level and includes a 62,000 SF sports center housing 8 indoor basketball/volleyball courts and food service commons, 42,000 SF of indoor self-storage space and 16,000 SF of corporate office space. By utilizing a mixed-use project model, the development team was able to deliver a state-of-the-art youth sports center serving Orange County that otherwise could not have been economically justified. The form of the building is designed to communicate the energy associated with a sports center and to unify the three disparate uses into one dynamic memorable image by using a combination of brightly colored smooth faced and corrugated metal panels, colored porcelain tiles and clear and translucent glass. The 70,000 SF roof area is covered with Solar Photovoltaic Panels and the building received LEED Gold Certification from the United States Green Building Council.
